Level 4 48–60 marks
There is evidence of excellence in the creative use of most of the following technical skills:
• material appropriate for the target audience and task;
• using titles appropriately according to institutional conventions;
• using sound with images and editing appropriately for the task set;
• shooting material appropriate to the task set;, including controlled use of the camera, attention to
framing, variety of shot distance and close attention to mise-en-scene;
• using editing so that meaning is apparent to the viewer and making selective and appropriate use of
shot transitions and other effects
I think this is great!
The material is clearly apt for the audience in that it's a thriller/crime drama. Someone being chased is a giveaway.
It's a shame that the titles are a little inconsistent both in terms of length and when they appear. The poor costume designer hardly gets a look in! They do follow conventions.
The music works very well with this in that it is dramatic yet reasonably downbeat. There is no diegetic sound which I think works well with this.
The mmaterial is really effective. I think it starts a little abruptly. Perhaps we could have seen the area before we saw the character. However, after that you pace things very well. The use of slo-mo is very effective and you did well with the match on action. I was a littl concerned about the shot when he looks backwards as it kind o breaks the 180 degree rule but it doesn't rally matter too much and the shot itself is nicely done with him running through shot and a static camera. The shot of him silhouetted in the sunlight (you used it for the poster) is terrific.
The editing after the rushed start is spot on. The one shot we get of the pursuer- he/she appears to be walking which is a little weird.
Very well done.
