Pyschographics and Demographics

Using pyschographics and demographics this is how we will try and identify our target audience. We both have decided that our target audience is for teenagers/ young adults, all races and all social classes, but mainly middle and working class. For example in our film opening our main character is in the same age bracket, as a consequence it makes the film more relatable. Usually the murder mystery genre is also targeted more to adults which our film will also still appeal to, however the main audience we will be target is teenagers/ young adults as stated before. In addition, we would like our film to open in as many locations as possible so we would like a nationwide general release resulting in a bigger target audience.

Example of pyschographics:                               Examples of Demographics:

·        Personality
·         Age/ Gender

·        Values
·         Race

·        Attitudes
·         Location

·        Interests
·         Employment Status

·        Lifestyles
·         Social Class

  1. There are a couple of issues with expression here. I think your young characters would probably appeal more to teen/young adult audiences but I doubt that social class would be a factor. Demographics is all about identifying social groups whereas psychographics is concerned with looking at how those groups behave/what they like etc. Urban crime is certainly something that appeals to young audiences. Why do you think that is? Is it because at a young age, the idea of toughness and battling against the odds in a bad world, appeals to people who have just emerged from the cosy innocence of childhood? Tough, gangster characters who rebel and don't play by the rules, also offer us an escape from our closeted pre-teen lives. These choices are often also reflected in the music choices of young people. (God I'm good). Have a chat with me about it if you need more amazing insight!
